In Loving Memory of Stephen Eric LaBorde
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Eric LaBorde, who left this world peacefully on June 12, 2026, at his home in the presence of his devoted father, Roy E. LaBorde, and his beloved fiancée, Laura, who tenderly cared for him throughout his illness. Stephen was born on July 20, 1969, in Houston, Texas, and lived a life full of passion, love, and dedication to his family and community.
Stephen was a man of many talents and interests, but above all, he was a loving partner, and a loyal friend. Predeceased by his mother, Carrol Grace (Smith) Massey, Stephen is survived by his fiancée, Laura, with whom he shared a loving home in New Caney. He also leaves behind his treasured daughter, Julie LaBorde Baker, her husband Bobby, his sister Melissa Sunday, and extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, including three adored grandchildren whom he accepted as his own brought immense joy to his life.
After high school, Stephen furthered his education at San Jacinto College, where he pursued his passion for automatics. For over 30 years, Stephen built a respected career as an auto mechanic technician, admired for his expertise and dedication. His work ethic and skill led him to become the go to guy, and thru those years became a driver of tow trucks and filled his dream of owning his own tow trucks and handling the business of getting the vehicles handled, but it was his love for classic and vintage vehicles that truly ignited his passion. Stephen was an esteemed member of the C10 Cruiser club, contributing great stories and helping hands to its community and fostering friendships that spanned decades.
Stephen's hobbies reflected his zest for life. He relished tinkering with all classic rides, participating in car shows and BBQ cook-offs, and enjoying the camaraderie of all those cruises and even judging some of those pristine rides. His love for music, campfires, and sharing stories over a cooler of Miller Lite were among his simple pleasures. Stephen had a profound love for dogs and a deep appreciation for the simple country life on the farm.
His personality was as vibrant as his interests. Stephen was known for his big heart, always ready to lend a hand, and his easy-going nature made him a friend to all. His family remembers him as someone who was social, always full of love, and whose presence brought warmth to every gathering.
In honor of Stephen's life and legacy, the family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support that has been shown during this difficult time.
As we say goodbye to Stephen, we hold onto the memories of his laughter, his kindness, and the love he bestowed upon those he held dear. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
