Stephen Brent States

Stephen Brent States, a man of unwavering faith and infectious humor, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2026, under the loving care of his family and hospice. Born on October 22, 1948, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Stephen was a beacon of strength and warmth throughout his 77 years. Stephen was the beloved son of the late Paul and Imogene States. He was also predeceased by his cherished sister, Susan Creech, and brother, Mitch States. Though they have gone before him, their spirits surely greeted him with open arms. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kim, with whom he shared 44 beautiful years of marriage, his brother Rick (Joy) and sister-in-law Teresa. Also surviving Stephen is his children, who were his pride and joy—Brent (Stacy), Justin, and Jason (Mary). They will continue to carry forward his values of kindness and generosity, along with his grandchildren, Brett, Bree, Bryce, Brayden, and Stephen and his four great-grandchildren. Serving his country with honor, Stephen dedicated eight years to the Army National Guard. His commitment to service extended beyond the military, as he retired after a distinguished 33-year career as a firefighter with the Parkersburg Fire Department. Stephen's passion for helping others didn't stop there; he was the heartfelt pastor of Narrow Gate Baptist Church, where his leadership and compassion brought many to the Lord. Additionally, he owned and operated the Little Kanawha Auto Upholstery Shop, where his craftsmanship and dedication were evident in every detail. Stephen was a man whose character was as vibrant as his sense of humor. Always ready with a joke to lighten the mood, he brought smiles and laughter to all who were fortunate to know him. His legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Adoration Hospice for their compassionate care during Stephen's final days. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Though he will be deeply missed, Stephen Brent States will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
