Stephen was surrounded by love and care until his final moments and will be remembered as a gentle soul whose presence brought joy to all who knew him. Born in the quaint town of Shifnal, Shropshire, on February 12, 1966, Stephen was the cherished son of Gillian and Brian Bayliss. His early years were marked by a bright curiosity and an insatiable thirst for knowledge, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life. Stephen's academic journey led him to Hull University, where he graduated with a degree that would pave the way for a fulfilling career in software development. Stephen excelled as a software developer, a profession that allowed him to merge his analytical mind with his love for innovation. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Stephen's life was a symphony of passions and pursuits. He was an active member and leader of the Staithes Fishermen's Choir, where his voice resonated with the spirit of camaraderie and community. His love for music also found expression in the Hinderwell Folk Group and the Old Guits Guitar Group, where he shared his talents and forged enduring friendships. Stephen's life was enriched by his love for travel, music, and the joy of reuniting with old friends. His quick wit and generous heart made him a beloved friend, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. Those who were fortunate enough to know him marveled at his incredibly enquiring mind and his capacity for kindness and understanding. Stephen leaves behind his loving parents, Gillian and Brian, and his treasured daughter, Sonia, who was the light of his life. His family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at James Cook Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Stephen during his illness. In accordance with Stephen's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing his family and closest friends to celebrate his life in an intimate setting. While the ceremony is private, those who knew and loved Stephen are encouraged to remember him in their own ways, cherishing the memories and moments shared.
