With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Stella Louise Thomas, who left this world peacefully on May 24, 2026, at the age of 80. Stella's journey began on October 2, 1945, in the warm embrace of Meridian, Mississippi, where she was born to Bertie Mae All and Clarence Edward Townsend. She was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her.
Stella was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bertie Mae and Clarence, her cherished siblings Henry and James Townsend, her son Joseph Wayne Kelly, grandson Bobby Thomas Jr., and her devoted husband of 36 years, Billy H. Thomas, whom she married on November 21, 1967. Together, Stella and Billy built a loving family and shared countless moments of joy and companionship.
Stella is survived by her children, each of whom she loved deeply: sons Chris Kelly, Bobby Thomas, and Bruce Degarmo, and daughters Billie Jean Erwin, Laura Eshleman, and Pamela Thomas. She is also survived by her dear sister, Brenda Puryear. Stella's legacy of love extends to her 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and happiness.
Throughout her life, Stella wore many hats with grace and dedication. She worked diligently as a seamstress, a home health aide, and in various roles in the restaurant industry. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her unwavering devotion to her family. Stella's greatest joy was found in the laughter and company of her grandchildren, often while listening to her favorite music, which filled her home with warmth and memories.
Stella's life was a testament to her selfless nature and her unwavering desire for the happiness and well-being of her family. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love were the cornerstones of her life, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
