July 9, 2011 — February 25, 2026
With heavy hearts but cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Steeler Petro, a beloved son, brother, and friend, on February 25, 2026. Steeler left this world at the tender age of fourteen, surrounded by the love of his family in the comfort of his home in Nitro, West Virginia.
Born on July 9, 2011, in Nitro, West Virginia, Steeler was a beacon of quiet strength and creativity from the very beginning. He attended Alban Elementary from 2016 to 2023, where he first discovered his love for music and books. His educational journey continued at McKinley Middle School from 2023 to 2025 and later Andrew Jackson Middle School in 2025-2026, where he was fondly remembered by classmates and teachers alike for his quick wit and gentle demeanor.
Steeler had an innate talent for music. Whether he was making his own tunes or finding solace in the melodies of others, music was his sanctuary. His passion for music was matched only by his love for the great outdoors, where he spent countless hours playing and exploring, a testament to his adventurous spirit. Books were his companions, offering him worlds of wonder and knowledge, which he eagerly absorbed with a curious mind.
Though he was shy, those who knew Steeler were often surprised and delighted by his quick wit and sharp sense of humor. He had an uncanny ability to light up a room with his subtle charm, and his quiet strength was a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Steeler is predeceased by his beloved sister, Nikki Petro, with whom he shared a bond that was both profound and unbreakable. Together, they created memories filled with laughter and love, which will forever remain etched in the hearts of their family.
As we celebrate Steeler’s life, we remember him as a young boy who lived with a heart full of love and a spirit that touched everyone around him. His legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and resilience—a testament to the beautiful person he was, and will always be, in the hearts of those who loved him.
Steeler Petro will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May his soul rest in peace, cradled by the music he so dearly loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Steeler’s memory to support music education programs for children, nurturing the creative spark in future generations as Steeler’s was so beautifully ignited.
A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends. Those who wish to honor Steeler’s memory are encouraged to do so by sharing music, stories, and laughter, just as he would have wanted.
