It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley John Barber, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Stanley left this world on May 11, 2026, at the age of 67, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. Born on March 8, 1959, in Orange, New Jersey, Stanley was the cherished son of the late Sarah McClain and Stanley Barber. He was preceded in death by his sister, Tanya Barber, and his nephew, Flynn Myers. Stanley's early years in Orange set the foundation for a life characterized by warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to family. Stanley attended elementary and middle school in Orange before completing his high school education at Montclair High School. It was during these formative years that his quick wit and infectious smile began to shine, traits that would endear him to countless friends and acquaintances throughout his life. After high school, Stanley pursued a career in construction, which led him to North Carolina. Eventually, he settled in Richmond, Virginia, in the early 1990s, where he found his true calling and changed career paths. Stanley's work was marked not only by skill and dedication but also by the genuine care and kindness he extended to colleagues and clients alike. Stanley's life was a testament to the power of love and family. He shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Wanda Barber, who survives him. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Aaliyah and Chanel Barber, who were the light of his life. As a grandfather, Stanley found immense joy in his three grandchildren: Makhi, Jaime, and Ariel Barber. His love for them was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent in their company. Stanley is also survived by his brothers, Robert and James Barber, and his sister, Janice Duncan, who, along with a wide circle of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends, will remember him for the endless laughter and warmth he brought into their lives. His nephews, Zarif Davis, Rahfee Wormley, Khi Duncan, Naim, and Robbie Barber, and nieces, Shante Davis, Atiya Barber, and Jhozia Duncan, will forever hold dear the memories of their uncle who was always ready with a joke to lighten any mood. Known for his gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, Stanley's kindness and generosity touched countless lives. His presence was a beacon of positivity, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him. A service to celebrate Stanley's life will be held on May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Life Tabernacle, located at 500 Steadman Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a man who made the world a brighter place. In our grief, we find solace in the love and laughter Stanley shared with us all. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, dear Stanley, and thank you for the beautiful memories you have gifted us.
