Staisha Underwood
August 12, 1960 — September 26, 2026
Staisha Underwood, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was called home on September 26, 2026. Born on August 12, 1960, in East Chicago, Indiana, Staisha brought warmth and compassion into the world, embodying kindness and strength throughout her life.
Staisha was the cherished daughter of the late Wila Penick and was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Underwood and Marian Penick. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her husband, Stanly Underwood Sr., and their four children: Akila, Stanly Jr., Tiana, and Paul Underwood. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support were a constant source of strength for her family.
Staisha was blessed with seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild, all of whom she adored and cherished deeply. Her family was her pride and joy, and she always made sure to be there for them and anyone in need. Her siblings, Glenn, Dean, Sherrie, and Crystal Penick, along with her surviving children, Stanly Jr., Tiana, and Akila, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
In 1992, Staisha began working for the local high school, where her dedication and passion for education touched many lives. A devout member of her church since 1985, Staisha’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.
Her hobbies included watching sports, playing spades, and listening to music. Staisha had a remarkable ability to connect with people, her big heart and soft voice making it easy for others to confide in her.
A celebration of Staisha’s life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, located at 3918 Catalpa. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life she lived.
