In Loving Memory

Spencer Zielinski
October 12, 1981 — April 14, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Spencer Egan Zielinski, age 44, who departed this world on April 14, 2026. Born on October 12, 1981, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Spencer lived a life filled with service, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to helping others, despite his own personal struggles. His passing is a poignant reminder of the silent battles faced by so many, especially those who have served.
Spencer was the beloved son of Michael and Janice Zielinski, and brother to Meghan Zielinski. He leaves behind his treasured daughter, Melanie, who was the light of his life. Though he never had the joy of grandchildren, his legacy of kindness and service will live on through Melanie and those whose lives he touched. His family, friends, and all who knew him will forever cherish the moments they shared with him.
Spencer's journey began in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he was born. He was raised primarily in Winnemucca, but he returned to Idaho Falls where he graduated from Skyline High School before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served with distinction from 2000 to 2006, earning numerous commendations, including the Combat Expeditionary Award, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Meritorious Service Award, among others. His service took him across the globe, from the UK to the Middle East, where he demonstrated courage and resilience. Spencer's dedication to his fellow service members and his country earned him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge and an associates degree in Criminal Justice from the Air Force, Spencer pursued further education at the University of Idaho, completing a bachelor's degree in English with a professional writing emphasis. His thirst for knowledge and passion for writing were evident throughout his life. Spencer's career was as diverse as his interests, ranging from wildland firefighting and security roles to real estate appraisal and process serving. His colleagues and clients knew him as a man of integrity and diligence, always willing to go the extra mile.
Spencer was a man of many talents and interests. He was a gifted musician, playing guitar and piano with a skill that brought joy to those fortunate enough to hear him. Whether on the ice rink or out fishing, Spencer found solace in sports and the great outdoors. He cherished his moments fishing and hunting with his father, cultivating a bond that was deeper than the waters they fished. He also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like playing video games, pool, or throwing darts at home.
Despite his accomplishments and talents, Spencer faced challenges in forming lasting relationships. He was shy and reserved but had a heart full of generosity, often extending a helping hand to anyone in need, much like his grandfather Howard. His life was a testament to the profound impact one can have through small acts of kindness and a willingness to serve others.
Spencer's passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and the community. His private funeral will be a time for those closest to him to remember the love, laughter, and light he brought into their lives.
In honoring Spencer's memory, let us all strive to be more compassionate and supportive of those around us. May we remember him not only for his service and achievements but for his gentle spirit and the love he shared with those who knew him.
Rest in peace, Spencer Egan Zielinski. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
