In Loving Memory of Souphanh Phila January 1, 1948 – June 10, 2026 With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Souphanh Phila on June 10, 2026, at his beloved home. Born on January 1, 1948, in the serene town of Savannakhet, Laos, Souphanh lived a life that was a testament to kindness, resilience, and love. Souphanh was the cherished son of the late Inh and Keo Inthachack. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Khamchanh, and his brother Khamsing. His legacy continues through his devoted wife, Fasavanh Phila, whom he married on November 29, 1968, marking the beginning of a union filled with love, support, and shared dreams. He is survived by his loving wife, Fasavanh; his children, Souksengchanh (Palmer Lovan), Vannakhong Phila, and Sonepheth Phila; and his treasured granddaughter, Shyanne Lovan. Souphanh’s love and warmth extended to his siblings, Pavanh, Thongdam, Kom, Nou Lep, Khamtong, Khamtan, and Souksavanh, who will all dearly miss him. Souphanh’s journey of learning led him to the National University of Laos, where he graduated in 1973. His pursuit of a better life brought him to the United States in 1980, where he committed himself to helping others through his work as a counselor at the Job Corps Center in Denison, Iowa, and later at Grace Label in Des Moines, Iowa. His career was marked by dedication and a profound empathy for those he served. A man of deep faith, Souphanh was a devoted Buddhist who found joy and purpose in volunteering at his local temple. His efforts in fundraising and participating in festivals were a testament to his commitment to his community and his spiritual beliefs. His gentle nature and outgoing personality made him a beloved figure among his friends and family. Souphanh found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as his morning walks around Easter Lake, where he often reflected on the beauty of nature and life’s blessings. His kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone he met, leaving an indelible mark of compassion and warmth. As we celebrate Souphanh’s life, we remember his courage, his unwavering love for his family, and his enduring legacy of kindness. His life was a tapestry of love, woven with threads of resilience, compassion, and faith. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A memorial service honoring Souphanh’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local temple, continuing Souphanh’s legacy of giving and community support. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a guiding light for us all.
