It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of Sook Ja Shin, who peacefully left this world on August 1, 2026, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 25, 1950, in Pusan, South Korea, Sook Ja graced this world with her presence for over seven decades, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness. Sook Ja was the beloved wife of IL and the cherished mother of Robert (Lori) and James. Her love and wisdom will continue to guide her two grandchildren, Caleb and Noah, whom she adored immensely. Her family was the center of her universe, and she dedicated her life to ensuring their happiness and well-being. With an entrepreneurial spirit that knew no bounds, Sook Ja ventured into various businesses throughout her life. Her endeavors spanned from owning restaurants and retail stores to running a dry cleaning business. Her courage and determination in the business world were matched only by her passion for gardening, which she embraced fully in her retirement years. She found joy in nurturing her garden and took pride in growing her own vegetables, a testament to her nurturing nature. Sook Ja was a devoted member of the Fayetteville Korean Baptist Church, where she found solace and community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her strength and comfort throughout her journey. She was a woman who consistently put the needs of her family and friends above her own, a quality that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. A service to celebrate Sook Ja's life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Fayetteville Korean Baptist Church, located at 6873 Cliffdale Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28314. Family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched are invited to join in remembering and honoring her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Fayetteville Korean Baptist Church, in memory of Sook Ja, to support the community she held so dear. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the many friends who selflessly offered their time, assistance, and love to Sook Ja over the years. Your kindness and generosity have been a source of immense comfort, showing her the love and warmth of a community that cherished her deeply. Though she is no longer with us, the light of Sook Ja Shin’s love and the impact of her life will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her.
