Sonya Marie Sotelo

April 26, 1973 — August 21, 2026

Sonya Marie Sotelo, a beloved daughter, partner, and friend, left this world peacefully on August 21, 2026, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 26, 1973, in Adrian, Michigan, Sonya blessed the lives of those around her with her infectious smile, heartfelt laugh, and impeccable sense of style. Sonya was the cherished daughter of Rodolfo "Rudy" Sotelo and Lucinda "Lucy" (Estala) Sotelo, who survive her. She also shared 15 wonderful years with her devoted partner, Richard Corona, who, alongside her family and friends, remained by her side providing love and support throughout her battle. A proud graduate of Adrian High School, Sonya embarked on a fulfilling career marked by dedication and a passion for helping others. She worked with distinction for Johnson & Johnson in Racine, Wisconsin, and later took on the noble role of a school bus driver for Adrian Public School. Her love for the road led her to drive for GO Riteway Transportation in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, where she was known for her warm demeanor and commitment to the safety of her passengers. Sonya's life was enriched by her many interests and hobbies. She had a profound love for dance, particularly to the vibrant beats of tejano music, and she frequently traveled to enjoy tejano fiestas. Her creative spirit shone through in her love for decorating and crafting, activities she pursued with enthusiasm and flair. Casinos held a special place in her heart, offering her joy and excitement. Sonya was predeceased by her loving grandparents, Jose and Marta Sotelo, Benino and Maria (Martinez) Estala, and several aunts and uncles who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms. Though she leaves no grandchildren behind, her legacy lives on through the countless family members, including many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who survive her. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Aurora Home Hospice, Tina Jensen, and Richard Corona for their compassionate care of Sonya during her final days. For those who wish to honor Sonya's memory, donations can be made to a charity of their choice. Sonya's light and warmth touched all who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed. As we celebrate her life, we remember the joy she brought into the world and the love she shared with everyone around her.
