In loving memory, we celebrate the remarkable life of Sonji Yvette Ford, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Sonji passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering love will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on November 18, 1967, in the charming town of Rockledge, Florida, Sonji was the beloved daughter of the late Maggie and Willie Williams, and Mary Anne Camper. Growing up surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, she developed a deep-rooted compassion and zest for life that she carried with her always. Sonji's life was a tapestry of love, strength, and resilience. She served her country with pride in the United States military from 1986 to 1988, a testament to her dedication and bravery. Her service was a reflection of the selflessness and courage that defined her character. In 2025, Sonji married the love of her life, Rogelio Ford. Together, they crafted a beautiful life filled with laughter, adventure, and an unwavering bond. Their union was blessed with three wonderful daughters: Marquita Williams, Shareka Darling, and Shakela Darling, each of whom inherited their mother’s kindness and strength. Sonji’s heart was further enriched by the joy of her grandchildren: Shayna Watson, Shaniya Darling, Giianna Darling, and Zyon Tibbs. Her love for them was boundless, and she took immense pride in each of their achievements, always their greatest cheerleader. A woman of many passions, Sonji found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved fishing, often finding peace by the water's edge. Her love for dancing brought light to gatherings, her movements as graceful as her spirit. Her culinary skills were unmatched, her kitchen filled with the aromas of love and warmth. And her singing, a gift she shared freely, brought comfort and happiness to those around her. Sonji is survived by her devoted husband, Rogelio; her cherished daughters, Marquita, Shareka, and Shakela; her adored grandchildren, Shayna, Shaniya, Giianna, and Zyon; and her loving brothers, Anthony, Punchy, and Kenneth. She is predeceased by her parents, Maggie and Willie Williams, who welcome her now into their loving embrace. A memorial service to honor Sonji’s life will be held on July 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Veterans Memorial. We invite all who knew her to join us in celebrating the life of a woman whose legacy of love, strength, and joy will continue to inspire. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity close to Sonji’s heart, ensuring that her spirit of generosity and kindness continues to touch lives. Sonji Yvette Ford will be remembered as a beacon of love and light, a woman whose life was a testament to the beauty of the human spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, her memory forever cherished in the hearts of those she touched.
