Sonja departed this world peacefully at home in the comforting presence of her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. Born on May 5, 1957, in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, Sonja was the cherished daughter of Matthew and Shelia. From a young age, she exuded a spirit of compassion and empathy, qualities that would define her life's journey. Sonja shared a beautiful life with her devoted husband, John, with whom she celebrated 30 years of marriage. Together, they nurtured a warm and loving home, raising three wonderful children: Micheal, Kim, and Jason. Her family was her pride and joy, and she dedicated herself wholly to their happiness and well-being. Sonja's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she embraced her role as a grandmother to four adoring grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her days. Throughout her life, Sonja remained deeply rooted in her community. Her warmth and genuine kindness touched the lives of many, creating bonds that transcended generations. Her laughter was infectious, her counsel wise, and her heart, always open to those in need. Though a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Sonja's wishes, we invite those who knew and loved her to remember her in their own special ways. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sonja's memory to a charity of your choice that embodies the spirit of giving and love that she so cherished. Sonja's spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched. Her journey may have ended in this world, but her legacy of love and compassion will forever illuminate the path for those who follow.
