In Loving Memory of Sonia A. Jiles It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Sonia A. Jiles, who left this world on April 29, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on March 9, 1961, in the tranquil town of Wicomico, Maryland, Sonia graced the lives of all who knew her with warmth, humor, and an indomitable spirit. Sonia was the cherished daughter of the late Marie Armstrong and Alfred Jiles, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms at the gates of heaven, alongside her dearly missed siblings, Deborah Jiles and Gay Jiles Campbell. Her legacy continues through her loving daughter, Sylk Marie Singletary, her devoted sister, Shelly Jiles-Sumler, her brothers Jonathan and Brandon Jiles, and a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. Sonia's family extended beyond blood, as she was blessed with a wonderful sister-in-law, Sylk's fabulous aunts, and many good friends and loving extended family members. A proud alumna of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Sonia earned her Associate's degree and went on to build a diverse career. She dedicated several years to Bell Atlantic phone company and Comcast cable company, before finding her calling as a construction worker with The Operating Engineer Local 542. Known for her strong work ethic, Sonia worked tirelessly until her early retirement, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and excellence. A devoted Christian, Sonia's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with others. She had a gift for connecting with people, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. Her zest for life was infectious—whether she was listening to old school music, dancing without moving her feet, or indulging in her love for Maryland blue crabs, Sonia lived life with joy and authenticity. Her artistic spirit shone through in her drawings and paintings, and she delighted in creating content for holidays, making every occasion special for those she loved. Above all, Sonia cherished every moment spent with her family and friends, who were the center of her world. Sonia will be remembered for her strength, her humor, and her kindness. Her legacy continues through her daughter Sylk, and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. A service to honor Sonia's remarkable life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the Voice Of Deliverance Worship Center, located at 6832 Old York Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19126. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who attended Sonia's service, both physically and virtually. In the words of those who loved her, "Sonia loved us with her whole heart. May we continue to make her smile as she watches us from heaven." Rest in peace, dear Sonia. Your spirit will forever light our lives.
