Socorro "Sukie" Quezada

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Socorro "Sukie" Quezada, who left this world on July 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 17, 1969, in El Paso, Texas, Sukie was a beacon of love and strength whose presence touched the lives of many. Sukie was the cherished daughter of Antonio and Socorro Quezada. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Pedro and Eliza Rivera Quezada, and her maternal grandparents, Jesus and Tomasa Colunga Rodriguez. Her legacy continues through her devoted husband, Jose Ornelas, whom she married in 2023 in Las Vegas, NV. The couple made their home in Conroe, Texas. Sukie's pride and joy were her children, Abraham Quezada and Alexis Kelly, along with her beloved son-in-law, Ryan. She adored her grandson, Liam Abraham Kelly, whose laughter and innocence brought immense joy into her life. Her siblings, sister Eva Quezada (Jesse) and brother Tony Quezada, along with her niece Gloria Quezada and nephews Astin Marquez and Silas Quezada, were deeply loved by her and were a significant part of her life's journey. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who cherished her deeply. Professionally, Sukie was a dedicated Senior Coordinator for College Operations in the Dean's Office of the Miguel A. Loya College of Engineering at UTEP. She was known for her unwavering support to students, always cheering for the underdog and encouraging them to reach their full potential. Her colleagues and students remember her fondly as someone who made time for a heartfelt conversation over a cup of coffee. Sukie's passions extended beyond her professional life. She had a zest for living, evident in her love for shopping and traveling. Whether packing her bags for a trip back home to El Paso, visiting family, or enjoying the magic of Disneyland, Sukie embraced every opportunity to explore and create memories with those she loved. A service to honor Sukie's life will be held on July 31, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, located at 673 Old Hueco Tanks Rd, El Paso, TX 79907. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Sukie's memory. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the medical staff at Memorial Hermann Hospital - Conroe for their unwavering dedication and compassionate care. Special thanks go to Dr. Mohsen Ariani and the entire team at Texas Oncology-The Woodlands Medical Plaza for their commitment and support during Sukie's battle. Sukie's warm spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will continue to inspire us all.
