With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Skoliwe Chigodho, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on June 2, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on August 10, 1955, in the heart of Zimbabwe, Skoliwe was the beloved daughter of Clever Chigodho and Maina Tagarira. She was a beacon of light, whose spirit shone brightly through the lives she touched and the legacy she leaves behind. Skoliwe grew up surrounded by the vibrant culture and rich traditions of Zimbabwe, which instilled in her a lifelong passion for community and family. On October 4, 1980, in Giwelo, Zimbabwe, she married the love of her life, Samson Mazunga. Together, they built a family rooted in love, resilience, and unity, a testament to their unwavering commitment to one another. A devoted mother, Skoliwe was predeceased by six of her beloved children: Forgive, Future, Elizabeth, Abigail, Mercy, and Marvelous Mazunga. Her nurturing spirit lives on in her surviving children: Nomusa, Runbidzai, Ubandance, Namatai Simbabure, Strive, Spine, Caleb, Jacob, and Tabeth Mazunga. Her love extended to her grandchildren: Winnie Madzimure, Tatenda Mbabru, Edwin Madzimure, Tabudzwa Mbabru, Nicole Madzimure, Tanaba Mazunga, Paul Madzimure, Tyler Mazunga, Jaden Mazunga, Thais Mazunga, Moreblessing Simbabure, Gracious Simbabure, Marvelous Simbabure, Kaih Konga, Elizabeth Konga, Emmanuel Konga, Tinashe Mazunga, and Thando Mazunga. Each of them carries a piece of her heart, her wisdom, and her enduring kindness. Skoliwe was a woman of many talents and interests. She found joy in the simplicity of life, whether it was through the rhythmic clicks of her knitting needles, the serene beauty of a crochet pattern, or the peace found in a long, reflective walk. Her voice was melodious and filled with the love of singing, often bringing comfort and joy to those around her. A lover of water, she found solace in swimming, an activity that mirrored her fluid grace and boundless energy. Her personality was a vibrant tapestry of extroversion, virtue, intelligence, and generosity. Skoliwe's kitchen was a place of warmth and welcome, where her skills as a seasoned chef delighted family and friends alike. She was extolled for her munificence and philanthropic efforts, always looking to uplift those around her and extend a helping hand to her community. Skoliwe's life will be celebrated in a service held on June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Apostolic Faith Church, located at 8537 W. Bellfort Avenue, Houston, Texas 77071. Family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched are invited to join in honoring her remarkable journey and the indelible mark she has left on the world. Though her earthly presence will be deeply missed, Skoliwe's spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who knew her. As we remember her life, we are reminded of the beauty of her heart, the strength of her character, and the boundless love she shared with us all. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of those who went before her, until we meet again.
