Sividious Vaden Starks, Jr.

November 28, 1935 — September 19, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the peaceful transition of Sividious Vaden Starks, Jr., who departed this life on September 19, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on November 28, 1935, in Greenville County, Virginia. Sividious was a beloved son to the late Sividious Starks Sr. and Lillie Pearl Fletcher Sividious, affectionately known as "Buster," lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love. He graduated from John R Hawkins High School before being drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served his country honorably. In addition to his service, he embarked on a diverse career path that included working alongside his father on the family farm, delivering milk and produce, and driving a school bus. His industrious spirit saw him thriving in construction as a mason, cement and brick worker, and later as a truck driver and loading dock laborer for Richfood Dairy, where he retired after over 25 years of dedicated service. Buster was a man of simple pleasures, few words and of action. He cherished the camaraderie of his former co-workers, often meeting them monthly at Golden Corral for breakfast, where they delighted in sharing stories of the past. At home, he found joy in reading the newspaper, watching westerns and sports with his son-in-law Neil, and laughing with family during holidays and special occasions. His sense of humor and the anecdotes he shared about his youth and work were treasured by all who knew him. Sividious was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Lillian Butts. He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his children, Wilma Bower (Neil), Keith Starks (Calvette), and Karen, all residing in Richmond, VA. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Shacoya Henley (Derwin), Brandy Bower, and KeAndrea Glenn, and a precious great-granddaughter, Jeniyah Henley, former wife Jonella Banks, and his longtime devoted friend, Ellen Braxton, also survive him. The Starks family extends their deepest gratitude to Affinity Hospice Care for their compassion care, especially to Ms. Monica Raines, whose special care brought comfort to Sividious in his final days. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Sividious Vaden Starks, Jr. will be held on October 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sharon Baptist Church, located at 500 E. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222. The family is profoundly grateful for the prayers, condolences, and support received during this time of transition. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Sividious's generous spirit. To God be the glory for a life well-lived and a journey finished strong.
