In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Sister ~ Phyllis (Gil) Wing
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearly loved sister, born on March 13, 1954, in Springfield, Massachusetts, who departed this life on August 1, 2026. She was a cherished daughter of the late Herbert and Phyllis Wing and is now reunited with them, as well as her niece, Melissa Varelas, and sister-in-law, Roberta Wing, in eternal peace.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her son, Jason Nally of Connecticut, and her beloved brothers, Robert Wing of Chicopee and Herbert Wing of Georgia. Her sisters, Joan Polidoro of Wilbraham and Claire Varelas of Easthampton, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, will forever cherish her memory. Her best friend, Mary Hine of Connecticut, was like a sister to her, sharing countless cherished moments.
A proud alumna of Classical High School, she graduated in 1972. Her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse was a testament to her nurturing spirit and commitment to caring for others. Her colleagues and patients will remember her for her gentle touch and unwavering dedication.
Known for her infectious smile and quick wit, she was the life of every family gathering. She cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her grand-nieces and grand-nephews, who brought boundless joy to her life. Her love for children was evident to all who knew her, and she found great happiness in their laughter and innocence.
Every summer, she found solace in the serene beauty of the lakes in Maine, where she would escape to reflect and rejuvenate. Her beloved cat, Pippa, was her constant companion, providing comfort and companionship.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a date and location to be determined, where family and friends will gather to remember and honor her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, to support the ongoing fight against this devastating disease.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at New Britain General Hospital. Their compassion and dedication provided immense comfort during her final days.
As we say goodbye to our beloved sister, we hold onto the beautiful memories and the love she shared with us all. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
