Born on July 20, 1971, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Kim graced our lives for 54 beautiful years. Her departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but we find solace in the cherished memories she has left behind.
Kim was the cherished daughter of the late Leroy and Lillian, and the granddaughter of Oscar Gist Sr., Francis T. Gist, John H. Brown, and Anne Long Brown, who have all preceded her in death. Kim was a beacon of light and love to her surviving family, including her sisters Rhonda Gist and Pamela (Lamont )Smith, and her brothers Kevin Gist, Thomas (Shorty) Gentry all of Spartanburg South Carolina. Uncle Ervin Nelson of Spartanburg South Carolina. Kimberly 's warmth and kindness aunts Elizabeth (James) Stewart, Patty (Thomas) Gentry of Spartanburg South Carolina, and Carrie (Thuman) Clemmons, of Lexington North Carolina who will forever hold her dear in their hearts.
Kim was educated in the Spartanburg school system, where she nurtured her love for learning and developed lifelong friendships. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a former member of Foster Chapel Baptist Church in Jonesville, South Carolina, where she joyfully sang in the chorus. In her later years, she became a cherished member of The Worship Center in Roebuck, South Carolina, where she found a spiritual home and a loving community.
Those who knew Kim will remember her for her infectious smile and contagious laugh. She had an innate ability to brighten any room she entered, and her generosity knew no bounds. Kim was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying a spirit of kindness and compassion that inspired all who crossed her path.
Kim had a zest for life and found joy in simple pleasures. She loved shopping for a good deal, exploring new places through travel, and singing. Her adventurous spirit and love for life were truly contagious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.
A celebration of Kim's life will be held on April 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM at The Worship Center, located at 945 Caanan Road, Roebuck South Carolina. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available through The Worship Center’s website. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of J.W. Woodward and The Worship Center for their unwavering support and compassion during this difficult time.
Though Kim did not have children of her own, her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. As we gather to remember the beautiful life she led, we hold her memory close, knowing that she is now singing with the angels.
Rest in peace, Kim. You will be forever missed and eternally loved.
