It is with profound sadness, yet with hearts full of gratitude for her remarkable life, that we announce the passing of Sister Mary, who left us on September 22, 2026. Born on October 25, 1949, in the charming town of Allendale, South Carolina, Sister Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Elsey Dunbar and Eva Mae Reed.
Sister Mary's journey was one of love, dedication, and a deep commitment to those around her. A proud graduate of Haut Gap High School, she went on to contribute significantly to the hospitality industry, where she worked diligently for many years, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and patrons alike with her warmth and kindness.
Beyond her professional life, Sister Mary was a woman of many passions. She had an enduring love for crafts and shopping, finding joy in creating beautiful things and discovering treasures that brought smiles to those she loved.
Family was the cornerstone of Sister Mary's life. She is survived by her beloved son, Phillip Mack, who was a source of immense pride and joy. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Ambre Bianna Mack, Jayla Mack, and Demond Mack, who brought endless happiness to her days. Her great-grandchild will carry forward the light she brought into this world.
Sister Mary is also remembered by her devoted siblings, Hattie Nelson (James), Mary Kathleen Torres, Rev. Vermelle Reid, and Karen Reid, as well as a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by her generous spirit and unwavering faith.
She joins in eternal rest her dear parents, Elsey Dunbar and Eva Mae Reed, her sister Jane Annalee Ford, and her brother David Eugene Johnson. Their reunion in the hereafter brings comfort to those she leaves behind.
