HATTIESBURG, MS – With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Simone Gavin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on June 2, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on January 5, 1961, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Simone was the cherished daughter of the late Earl and Ursula Crumbley, who now welcome her into eternal rest.
Simone’s life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and compassion. She married her soulmate, Joseph Gavin, on July 8, 1994, and together they shared 32 beautiful years of marriage. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love, commitment, faith, and unwavering support. Together, they raised four wonderful children—Ralph Gavin, Neo Gavin, Sophia Smith, and Jarika Holmes—and created a home filled with laughter, cherished memories, and strong family values.
As a dedicated nurse, Simone devoted her life to caring for others. A proud graduate of Georgia State University, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and pursued a rewarding career as an OB-GYN nurse. Her commitment to nursing was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and profound desire to serve others with compassion, professionalism, and grace. Alongside Joseph, who served his community as a Fire Chief, they touched countless lives through their service and generosity.
Simone’s warmth and kindness extended beyond her professional life. She found immense joy in spending time with her family, creating lasting memories at family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and any opportunity to bring loved ones together. Her passions included traveling, gardening, reading, and attending community events. Known for her warm smile and generous spirit, she made every moment special and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Joseph, her children Ralph, Neo, Sophia, and Jarika, her siblings Edwina McCurty, Elaine McCurty, Clyde Woullard, and Dave Crumbley, and her cherished grandchildren Zoe, Ray, Michele, Michael, Len, and the newest addition, Nicole. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
