With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the peaceful passing of Simon Edward Cogley, who went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2026, at the age of 88. Simon's remarkable journey began in Oakland, Maryland, where he was born on October 2, 1937, to his loving parents, Simon and Mary Cogley. He carried their legacy of kindness and integrity throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who knew him. Simon dedicated his early years to serving his country with honor in the United States Coast Guard, a testament to his unwavering commitment to duty and community. After his military service, Simon found his calling as a master barber. His career was marked by his exceptional skill and warm personality, which he shared generously with his clients. The two barbershops he owned were not just businesses but vibrant community hubs where laughter and stories were shared as freely as haircuts. More than his professional achievements, Simon was cherished for his wonderful sense of humor and boundless generosity. His laughter was infectious, his spirit indefatigable, and his heart, a wellspring of love and joy. Simon was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Lois, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage before her passing in 2019. Together, they built a life rich in love and filled with treasured memories that will endure in the hearts of their family. Simon is survived by his children, Jerry (Cathy), Kim, Lisa (Doug), and Michele (Andrew), who inherited his penchant for kindness and strength of character. His legacy of love continues through his four grandchildren, Daniel (Lindsay), Heather, Emily (Ward), and Kimberly, who fondly recall his stories and cherish the lessons he imparted. Simon's life was further blessed with two great-grandchildren, Henry and Mason, who brought him immense joy and pride. An avid golfer and fisherman, Simon found peace and happiness in the great outdoors. Whether on the greens or by the water, he reveled in the tranquility and companionship these pastimes provided, always eager to share a story or a joke with his companions. Simon Edward Cogley will be remembered not only for his many accomplishments but for the warmth, humor, and love he brought into the world. His life was a testament to the power of generosity and kindness, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A celebration of Simon's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the indelible mark he left on our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, reflecting Simon's own lifelong commitment to giving back to his community. Rest in peace, dear Simon. Your legacy of love and laughter will forever guide us.
