November 18, 1944 — October 19, 2026

Silver "Sible" Anna Futrell, a beacon of light and love, entered into the arms of Jesus on October 19, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family in the peace of her home. Born on November 18, 1944, in Colfax, Louisiana, Sible was the cherished daughter of Clayton and Lucille Richardson Fredieu. She lived a life full of warmth, humor, and unyielding love, leaving a remarkable legacy for all who knew her. Sible was a woman of great faith and dedication, marrying the love of her life, Robert Darwin Futrell, on June 9, 1963. Together, they shared nearly 52 beautiful years of marriage, filled with mutual respect and devotion. Although Robert preceded her in death, their love story continues to be an inspiration to their family. A proud alumna of the University of Houston, Sible earned an associate degree in early education, which she passionately applied during her many years as a substitute teacher. Her nurturing spirit and enthusiasm for learning touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. Sible was an active and beloved member of Hargis Baptist Church for over 30 years, where she joyfully taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and participated in numerous church activities. Her faith was her guiding light, as was her commitment to spreading the word of God with all who crossed her path. Her vivacious personality and zest for life were truly infectious. Known for her sassy and unfiltered demeanor, Sible had a knack for making everyone laugh with her flirtatious jokes and savage honesty. Her magnetic presence and joyful spirit made her a beloved figure in the community. Above all, Sible treasured her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. She delighted in sharing her love of art, literature, music, and cooking, teaching her grandchildren her favorite recipes and kitchen secrets. Sible is lovingly survived by her son, Darwin Lynn Futrell; her daughter, DeAnna Gail Land, and husband Nathan; her brothers, Roger Glen Fredieu and wife Debra, and Joey Lane Fredieu and wife Francine; her sister, Linda Dinell Butts and husband Charles; her grandchildren, Lusila Lang and husband Aston, Semisi Halafihi, and Robert Halafihi; her great-grandchildren, Aila Wynn Lang and James Abel Lang; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert, her daughter-in-law Bobbi Futrell, and her brothers Clayton Kurt Fredieu, Clency Fredieu, Cleavland Fredieu, and Babyboy Fredieu. A celebration of Sible's extraordinary life will be held on October 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hargis Baptist Church, located at 1313 LA-122, Montgomery, LA 71454. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in honoring her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hargis Baptist Church in memory of Silver Anna Futrell, reflecting her lifelong devotion to her faith and community. Sible's radiant spirit, love for life, and unwavering dedication to her family and faith will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
