Sidney Speaks Jr

February 16, 1947 — July 13, 1997

Sidney Speaks Jr, a lifelong resident of Maryland, passed away on July 13, 1997, at the age of 50, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on February 16, 1947, Sidney was the cherished son of Sidney Speaks Sr and Mary Speaks. In 1969, Sidney married the love of his life, Lillie Waters, with whom he shared a beautiful journey of nearly three decades. Together, they raised a large and loving family, blessed with nine children: Sidney III, Crystal, Candice, Joy, David, Joe, William, Charles, and Lillian. Sidney's legacy continues through his 40 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched in innumerable ways, even those who never had the chance to meet him in person. Sidney was a devoted family man and a dedicated professional, working tirelessly as a plumber. He was known for his strong work ethic and the kindness he extended to everyone he encountered. A proud member of the Baptist faith, Sidney’s life was a testament to his beliefs and values. In addition to his work and family, Sidney had a great love for the television show "Seinfeld," bringing laughter and joy into his home. Despite facing his own challenges, he was remembered by those who knew him as a kind and warm-hearted individual, always willing to lend a helping hand. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many of whom were born after his passing, carry forward his spirit and memory. Bubby, one of his grandchildren, shares a heartfelt message: "I wish I could meet you, but I visited you back in July. Have a great time in Heaven." In honor of Sidney’s memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous and giving nature. Sidney Speaks Jr will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His life was a beacon of love and laughter, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
