In Loving Memory

Shirley Myers
June 2, 1958 — May 14, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Shirley Myers, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on May 14, 2026, at Jackson General after a courageous battle with illness. Born on June 2, 1958, in Trenton, TN, Shirley graced this world with her vibrant spirit and boundless love for 67 cherished years.
Shirley was the loving daughter of the late Gertrude Larrue and George Luten. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings Sherron Myers, Angela Mays, Sonia Luten, Cynthia Luten, and George Luten Jr., her stepfather Lonzo Larrue, her grandmother Eula Mae Lewis, and her uncle Howard Lewis. Despite the loss she endured, Shirley's heart remained full of love and resilience, qualities she generously shared with all who knew her.
A proud graduate of Peabody High School, Shirley dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a devoted caregiver whose kindness and compassion touched many lives. Her work was not just a career but a testament to the nurturing spirit that defined her life.
Shirley found joy in the simplest pleasures—reading her Bible, listening to music, and discovering new recipes. She had a remarkable gift for storytelling, and her warmth and openness meant she never met a stranger. Anyone who was willing to listen found themselves captivated by her tales and enveloped in her welcoming embrace.
She is survived by her cherished children, Jaqueta Hudson (Jason), Christy Owens, and Erica Anderson, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Her brother, Charles James Richardson, remains to honor her memory. Shirley's life was further enriched by her adoring grandchildren: Braxton Donald, Brittney Donald, Lashantay Beverly, Joshua Newhouse, Octavious Owens, Malike Owens, Kyra Hudson (Aaron), Michaela Owens, and Raymond Johnson, along with her godson Brian Johnson. She also leaves behind eight beloved great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. Special friends Kristie Williams and Steven Mack held a unique place in her heart, providing companionship and joy.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Baskerville Chapel, located at 431 E 4th St, Trenton, TN. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Baskerville for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
As we gather to honor Shirley's memory, we remember a woman whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering generosity. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of the many she touched, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her spirit find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
