Shirley Marie Sanders, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith. Born on March 20, 1949, in the charming town of Gretna, Virginia, Shirley was the cherished daughter of Emma Jean Coles and Isaac Saunders Coles. Her father predeceased her, but his lessons of strength and integrity lived on through her. Shirley was blessed with a fulfilling life, grounded in her devotion to family and faith. She shared a loving marriage with her dear husband, Walter Sanders, and together they built a family that stands as a testament to their unwavering love and commitment. Shirley is survived by her sons, Jevon Sanders and Tory Sanders, her brother Isaac Coles Jr. and Mother Emma Jean Coles who carry forward her teachings and values. She was a doting grandmother to her two grandsons, Brycen Sanders and Dominic Sanders, whose lives were enriched by her warmth and wisdom. A graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, Shirley pursued a successful career as an accountant, dedicating many years to Johnson & Johnson until her retirement. Her professional life was marked by integrity, diligence, and an unparalleled work ethic. Shirley's heart found its true home in her faith. A longtime member of Travelers Fellowship Baptist Church in Piscataway, NJ, Shirley later continued her spiritual journey in Orlando, Florida. Her life was a testament to her belief in walking with God and trusting Him in all things. Her sweet, caring spirit was evident to all who knew her, and her laughter was a source of joy and comfort. In her leisure, Shirley found great joy in collecting and selling her valuable doll collection, a hobby that reflected her appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship. She also loved drawing, coloring, and reading—activities that allowed her to express her creativity and find peace. Shirley Sanders' life will be celebrated at a service on October 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Antioch Lithonia Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2152 Rock Chapel Rd, Lithonia, GA 30058. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Antioch Lithonia Missionary Baptist Church and Tri Cities Funeral Home for their compassionate support. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Shirley's honor to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and love for helping others. Shirley's presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who were privileged to know her. Her family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to all who have offered prayers and support during this time. As God promised never to leave nor forsake us, Shirley's life is a beautiful reminder of His love and faithfulness.
