Shirley Mae Van Camp

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Shirley Mae Van Camp, who left this world peacefully on August 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 12, 1939, in Goodson, Missouri, Shirley was the cherished daughter of Chester and Opal Hale. Shirley's life was a testament to love, dedication, and profound kindness. A graduate of Bolivar High School's class of 1957, she went on to marry the love of her life, Frankie Joe Van Camp, on April 14, 1960. Together, they shared a marriage filled with warmth and devotion until Frankie's passing in 1998. For over 25 years, Shirley was a beloved figure at Wal-Mart, where she worked in various positions but found her true calling as the cashier everyone sought out, regardless of the line's length. Her radiant smile and true desire to hear all about what's going on in your life, left a lasting impression on everyone she served. Shirley was not only a dedicated worker but also a passionate lover of music and travel. She found joy in attending Bluegrass festivals and loved family vacations with Frank and Scott. Her family was her greatest pride and joy. Shirley was a devoted mother to her son, Scott Van Camp, whose achievements as a pilot filled her with immense pride, despite her initial fears. She leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished by her grandchildren: Spencer Van Camp (Jessica) , Morgan Ereon (Joseph) , and Garrett Van Camp, and her great-grandchildren Braxton Van Camp, Kinsley Van Camp, Grayson Ereon, and Jettson Ereon. Shirley's kitchen was the heart of her home, where her perfect pie crusts and "Grandma cookies" were always waiting for family. Shirley loved hosting family gatherings and holiday celebrations. She is predeceased by her parents, Chester and Opal Van Camp, her beloved husband Frankie Joe Van Camp, her sister Kay Holt, and her brother Ronald Hale. Shirley's memory will be forever cherished by her son Scott and his wife Yvonne, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her nieces, nephews, and the many friends with whom she shared her life's journey. A service to honor and celebrate Shirley's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 8, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home, located at 407 E. Broadway St, Bolivar, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shirley's memory to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to her generous spirit and love for community. Shirley's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She will be sorely missed.
