It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Shirley Jean Patterson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Shirley departed this world peacefully on February 11, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Born on March 27, 1933, in Los Angeles, Shirley was the only child of Vera Hanson, who instilled in her a spirit of kindness and resilience. Throughout her life, Shirley demonstrated an unwavering dedication to her family, creating a legacy of love that will continue to inspire future generations. Shirley was predeceased by her cherished mother, Vera Hanson, and her beloved son, Charles Wical. Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving family, including her son Greg Melby; her daughters Pam Clements and her husband Ross, Jan Scofield and her husband Gary; her sons Bob Patterson and his wife Sherri, Dave Patterson and his wife Tina, and Joe Patterson and his wife Nico. Shirley was also a devoted grandmother to 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. A woman of many interests, Shirley found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a profound love for reading, often finding solace and adventure within the pages of a book. Her passion for figure skating was evident as she delighted in the grace and artistry of the sport. Shirley's garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, where her flowers bloomed as beautifully as the love she shared with her family. Her affection for her feline companions was well-known, as they provided her with comfort and companionship through the years. Shirley's contagious laughter and ready ear for those in need of a listening heart were hallmarks of her character. She was a beacon of warmth and kindness, always making those around her feel welcome and valued. Her home was a haven of love, where family and friends gathered to create lasting memories. In accordance with Shirley's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. As we celebrate her remarkable journey, we find solace in knowing that her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Shirley Jean Patterson leaves behind an indelible mark on the world, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that will never fade.
