Shirley Flowers

Shirley Flowers, beloved sister, aunt, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, after a short illness. Born on August 17, 1954, in Charleston, West Virginia, Shirley was a vibrant presence who enriched the lives of everyone she met. She was 71 years old. Shirley was the cherished daughter of Emmett and Nina Lee Flowers, who predeceased her and welcomed her into their loving embrace. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Eddie and Dan, and sisters, Wilda and Debbie. Shirley shared an especially close bond with her sister, Pat, who survives her along with brother-in-law Darrell Taylor. Shirley was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews: Cricket, Floyd, Laura, Kim, Danielle, and Sarah; and to her nephews, Glen (Tabby) and Scott. Her great-nephews Zach, Glen, Blake, and Zane, along with her great-niece Jaylynn, held a special place in her heart. To her great-great-nephews Bentley, Maverick, and Carson, and great-great-nieces Hallie and Payton, Shirley was lovingly known as JoJo, a name that symbolized the endless joy and warmth she shared with them. For many years, Shirley worked as a waitress at Joey's and Fifth Quarter, where her quick wit and charm endeared her to many. Later, she became a devoted caretaker, showcasing her compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to helping others. Shirley always had something to say, her words often filled with wisdom, humor, and kindness. Her family, particularly her sister Pat, whom she considered her best friend, were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them. In honoring Shirley's memory, her family expresses heartfelt gratitude for all the prayers and phone calls received during this difficult time. They find comfort in knowing how deeply Shirley was loved by so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in remembrance of Shirley's generous spirit and love for others. Shirley's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and family. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a reminder to all of us to embrace each day with the same joy and enthusiasm she did.
