Born on June 16, 1970, in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, Shirley was a beacon of light to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Shirley was the beloved daughter of Claudine Byrd and Sherman Blackwell, who have both predeceased her. She was a loving sister to Elaine Brooks and a devoted mother to her four cherished children: Robert Edwards, Kaya Edwards, Kiara Edwards, and Royel Edwards. Her legacy of love continues through her three adored grandchildren. Shirley shared a beautiful life with Robert Edwards, her partner in all things. A woman of remarkable determination and intellect, Shirley pursued her education with tenacity. She initially attended Job Corps, later returning to school to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree. Her thirst for knowledge was insatiable, as reflected in the various certificates she earned across numerous fields of study. Shirley dedicated her professional life to nurturing and educating young minds, working tirelessly as a childcare provider and teacher at several mini schools. Her impact was so significant that she was honored by the mayor of San Francisco, a testament to her commitment and excellence in her field. Shirley's passions extended beyond her professional achievements. She had a profound love for singing and dancing, and her joy was infectious to all around her. Above all, Shirley adored her family, and she was the heart and soul of every gathering, bringing warmth and love to every occasion. Her unique spirit and boundless affection touched not only her immediate family but sister-in-law and brother-in-law In remembering Shirley, we celebrate a life of unwavering love and kindness.
