Her departure marks the conclusion of a life filled with love, resilience, and a profound dedication to her family and community.
Shirley was born on November 25, 1951, in the close-knit community of Waverly, Virginia, to the late Ivory Clanton Sr. and Dorethea Clanton. From an early age, she exhibited a remarkable spirit and a kind-hearted nature that endeared her to everyone she encountered. Raised with strong values, Shirley carried her upbringing into her adult life, becoming a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew her.
In 1971, Shirley graduated from Central High School in Sussex, Virginia. Her education there laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and personal growth.
