SHIRLEY ALLEN
January 31, 1935 — September 19, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Allen, surrounded by her loving family, after a sudden illness took her away from us. Born on January 31, 1935, in the serene town of Park City, Utah. Daughter of Willis and Mary Simmons. A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 19, 2026.
Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roger Allen, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. Shirley's siblings, Alexis, Elaine, Eliza, Lemar, Ralph, Luella, Elmo, Dean, and Louise, also predeceased her, and she is now reunited with them in peace.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, DC (Deb) Rogers, Brandee Allen, Tanya Allen and Troy Allen, wife Liselotte, as well as her treasured grandson, Chance Taylor Allen. Her brother, Pete Simmons, also survives her, and together with her family, they hold dear the memories of a remarkable woman who touched many lives.
Her career began in retail, where she brought her bright spirit and keen intellect to various establishments, including the beloved Old Sears on State Street where she worked in the accounting department. It was during her time at the SLC Airport at Avis Rental Cars that she met the love of her life, Roger Allen. In November 1964, they embarked on a journey of love and partnership that spanned 57 wonderful years.
After moving to California, Shirley embraced her most cherished role as a full-time stay-at-home mom, where she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family.Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support where the foundation upon which her family flourished. Shirley and Roger were active members of the LDS Church in Sunnyvale CA,where she participated in numerous Relief Society activities and dedicated many years assisting with the singles ward in Cupertino, CA.
Shirley was a woman of many passions. She found joy in the world of books,immersing herself in countless stories until her eyesight began to fade. She found joy in using her IPhone
to color pictures and play games. Her favorite pastime was exploring Costco, sampling the variety of food on offer, sometimes double fisted and going back for seconds. She also cherished traveling with her husband on his motorcycle embarking on adventures that took them as far as the Mississippi River, Graceland and New Orleans, often accompanied by her son, Troy and his wife, Liselotte.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on October 3, 2026 at Larkin Sunset Gardens from 10am to 12pm followed by a graveside service (1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT 84092). The family invites everyone who knew Shirley to join them in honoring her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in Shirley's honor. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to the medical teams at Intermountain Healthcare ICU, The 14th Floor, The Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital at the University of Utah, and the caregivers from Hospice who provided compassionate care to Shirley in her final days.
Shirley Allen's warmth, kindness, and sassy spirit for life will be remembered always by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
