Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late Erma Jean Jones. She is survived by her loving partner of 15 years, Cedric, and her cherished daughter, Joanna, whom she adopted at the tender age of three. Shirley embraced her role as a mother with an open heart and unwavering dedication, transforming her life to nurture and guide Joanna with the utmost warmth and care. Shirley’s journey in education was a testament to her determination and passion for helping others. She graduated from South Mountain Community College with an Associate degree in 2015 and continued her studies at Arizona State University, where she received her Bachelor's in Social Work in 2017. Her commitment to learning was matched only by her dedication to serving her community. Since 2018, Shirley thrived in her role as a Family Self-Sufficiency Caseworker II in the Housing Supportive Services Program. Her work was more than a job; it was a calling. Shirley was instrumental in empowering countless individuals and families, helping them achieve self-sufficiency and the dream of homeownership. Her spirited and feisty advocacy, coupled with her direct and compassionate approach, left a lasting impact on her colleagues, participants, and the broader community. Outside of her professional endeavors, Shirley’s life was filled with joy and vibrant energy. She was an avid lover of music and dancing, frequently enjoying date nights with Cedric, where their shared love for rhythm connected them deeply. Shirley's adventurous spirit took her to beautiful destinations like Sedona and California, creating memories of laughter and love. At home, Shirley found solace and happiness in her kitchen, where she was renowned for her culinary talents. She delighted in preparing meals for Joanna, Cedric, and her faithful canine companion, Socks, who held a special place in her heart. Her kitchen was often filled with many delicious dishes, sharing the love she expressed through her flavorful meals. Shirley's warmth, quick wit, and infectious humor brightened every room she entered. Her wisdom and insightful nature made her a trusted confidante and a mother figure to many. Known for her rare blend of kindness and bold strength, Shirley was always the first to stand up for those in need, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
