With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Shirlene Jackson, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on March 20, 2026, at her home in Wilson, North Carolina. Born on July 19, 1946, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Shirlene lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication to her family and community. Shirlene was the cherished wife of the late Willie Suber Sr., with whom she shared 43 years of marriage in Springfield, Massachusetts. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with laughter, faith, and the joy of raising their family. In 2017, Shirlene returned to her roots in North Carolina, where she remained until she went to be with the Lord. A devoted mother, Shirlene leaves behind a legacy of love in her four daughters, three sons, 19 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom carry her spirit forward. She is also survived by her dear sister, Diane Suber, and a host of extended family members who span the globe, all touched by her warmth and generosity. Shirlene was predeceased by her husband, Willie Suber Sr., her brother Willie Jr., and her sisters Addie Mae and Joyce Suber. Their reunification in heaven is a comfort to those who mourn her passing. Throughout her life, Shirlene was a beacon of light in her community. While her husband served in the military, she stayed home to raise their children and was an active volunteer within her church. Her passion for music led her to sing and direct multiple choirs, where she inspired many with her heartfelt dedication and talent. Shirlene was also known for her culinary skills, often bringing family and friends together over delicious meals she lovingly prepared. Her love for travel and family gatherings was evident in her frequent visits to relatives near and far, always eager to connect and share in the joy of family bonds. A celebration of Shirlene's life will be held at St. Paul's Church of Christ on April 3, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring her memory and the remarkable life she lived. The family of Shirlene Jackson extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, thoughts, and prayers during this time. As they reflect on her beautiful journey, they are comforted by the words, "Those who walk with the Lord will be forever protected." Shirlene will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her kindness, and her enduring love for her family and community. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
