Shirlease Bryant Stephens

June 20, 1934 — June 20, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirlease Bryant Stephens on June 20, 2026, her 92nd birthday. Born on June 20, 1934, in the gentle embrace of Monroe County, Shirlease was a beacon of warmth and resilience, whose legacy of love and strength will forever enrich the lives of those she touched. Shirlease was the beloved daughter of Mildred Williams and Henry Bryant. Her early years were nurtured in the loving care of her parents, who instilled in her the values of kindness, perseverance, and family devotion. Shirlease carried these values with her throughout her life, becoming a cherished matriarch and a guiding light for her family. She was a proud alumna of Central High School in Helena-West Helena, where her enthusiasm for learning and her natural aptitude for nurturing friendships began to flourish. Following her education, Shirlease dedicated 19 years to the Bobbie Brooks Garment Factory in West Helena, Arkansas, where her work ethic and camaraderie were celebrated by colleagues and friends alike. In 1956, Shirlease married the love of her life, William A. Stephens, Jr., embarking on a journey of love and companionship that spanned decades. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and the joyous sounds of family. After William's passing in 2004, Shirlease continued to live independently, holding cherished memories close to her heart while staying connected with her family and community. The heart of Shirlease's world was her family. She is survived by her devoted son, Kenny Sr. (Kathy) Stephens, and her treasured grandson, Kenny Stephens Jr. (Heidi). Her legacy lives on through her two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Addison Stephens, who brought her immense joy and pride. Shirlease is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Linda Sue Harris, and her niece, Lisa V. Harris Sharp, who shared in the bonds of sisterhood and family love. Shirlease was predeceased by her parents, Mildred and Ernest Bradley, and Henry Bryant, each of whom she held dear and whose memories she cherished throughout her life. In her later years, Shirlease's memory and health began to wane, but she faced these challenges with grace, supported by the unwavering love of her family. Her final days were spent at Belvedere Nursing, where she was cared for with dignity and compassion until she gently departed this world in the early moments of June 20th, leaving behind a tapestry of memories woven with love and laughter. The family invites all who knew Shirlease to join in celebrating her remarkable life. A service will be held to honor her memory, where stories will be shared, tears will be shed, and her indelible spirit will be celebrated. Shirlease Bryant Stephens leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Shirlease's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her lifelong commitment to kindness and generosity.
