SHILICE RENAE LARSEN
April 21, 1966 — January 1, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Shilice Renae Larsen, who peacefully left this world in the comforting embrace of her father on January 1, 2026. Born on April 21, 1966, in the sun-kissed city of San Diego, CA, Shilice was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.
Shilice was the cherished daughter of Sue Doty and Wayne Sell, and the late Paul Doty. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents and her father Paul, whose guiding spirit she now joins. Her spirit lives on through her devoted husband, Darren, whom she married in 2018, and their blended family of children: Derek, Jay, Jayme, Brock Madsen, Kati Larsen, and Brandon Larsen. Her legacy is further carried by her brother Ryan Doty and his wife Laura, and a loving brood of 11 grandchildren who were the apples of her eye.
A proud graduate of New London-Spicer High School, Shilice pursued her passion for real estate, obtaining her license in 1985. She went on to enrich her education at Willmar Community College from 1985 to 1987. Her career path was as diverse and vibrant as she was, encompassing roles in marketing, real estate, law, and elder care. For two decades, she dedicated herself as a fundraising director, touching countless lives with her generosity and dedication. In 2018, Shilice found her true calling as a minister, where she shared her faith and love, serving her Lord with unyielding passion and joy.
Shilice was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved cooking and baking, finding joy and solace in the kitchen. Her zest for life extended to the excitement of dirt racing and the companionship of animals. Above all, she was devoted to serving the Lord, a calling that resonated in every aspect of her life.
Known for her radiant presence and a voice that needed no amplification, Shilice had an unmatched ability to light up any room she entered. Her caring heart and willingness to help others were legendary, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed her path. Her laughter was infectious, and she had a remarkable gift for bringing joy and laughter to those around her.
A service to celebrate Shilice's remarkable life will be held on January 9, 2027, at 10:00 a.m. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church, located at 416 Central, Walhalla, ND 58282. In honor of Shilice's memory, the family kindly suggests donations be made to Big Pembina Lutheran Church or Walhalla Lutheran Church, organizations close to her heart.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the individuals who enriched Shilice's life. As she herself would say, "Thank you to all the folks my Lord placed in my life. Every one of you contributed to the person I was today."
Shilice Renae Larsen's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will continue to inspire us all.
