Sheryl Taylor, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026. Born on March 3, 1945, in the warm embrace of Canton, Mississippi, Sheryl was the cherished daughter of Barbara and Robert Taylor. Her life was a testament to the love and strength she shared with everyone she met. Sheryl's journey was rooted in education and community. She graduated with a master's degree in education from Jackson State University, a path that led her to a fulfilling career in the educational field. For 48 years, she dedicated herself to nurturing young minds as an elementary teacher and later as an assistant principal. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, touching the hearts of students, colleagues, and parents alike. Sheryl's passion for education and her unwavering commitment to her students will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her professional achievements, Sheryl's personal life was rich with love and joy. She was married to her devoted husband, Jerry Taylor, for 53 wonderful years. Together, they built a family grounded in love and togetherness. Sheryl leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren—each one a testament to the strength and grace she embodied. Sheryl cherished family time above all else, eagerly anticipating the annual family reunions that brought her loved ones together. She was a beacon of warmth and kindness, qualities that shone brightly during long vacations on the beach—one of her favorite pastimes. Her unique and special spirit touched everyone she met, and those who knew her understood the depth of her love and compassion. In accordance with her family's wishes, a private ceremony has been held to honor Sheryl's life.
