Sherry was the cherished daughter of Delois and John Rutledge, who instilled in her the values of love, compassion, and resilience. Her journey through life was shared with her beloved family, including her son, Demira Cortez Rutledge, and her dear sisters, Abradella Rutledge and Yolanda T. Rutledge. Sherry shared a special bond with her twin sister, Terry Rutledge, an unbreakable connection that was a source of joy and strength for them both.
A proud graduate of Ramsay High School, Sherry pursued her passion for business at Lawson College, where she earned her degree with determination and grace. Her career led her to Southern Medical Group, where she dedicated herself to her work with the same elegance and integrity she displayed in every aspect of her life.
Sherry's faith was a cornerstone of her existence; she confessed and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, embodying the teachings of love and kindness in her daily interactions. Her spiritual journey was a testament to her unwavering devotion to her beliefs and her community.
Affectionately known as the ‘Eyelash Queen,’ Sherry's beauty, confidence, and unique sense of style were admired by all who crossed her path. Her presence was a beacon of grace and elegance, whether she was attending a special occasion or simply enjoying the company of loved ones. Her radiant smile and fashionable spirit left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
Sherry's gift was not only in her outward beauty but also in the love, laughter, and light she shared with everyone around her. Her warm personality and unforgettable presence enriched the lives of her family, friends, and community, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
A service to celebrate Sherry's remarkable life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Grant Chapel AME Church, located at 6931 Division Ave. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Sherry are welcome to join in honoring her memory and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
