January 20, 1950 — May 30, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sherry Vennes Porras, a cherished wife, sister, aunt, stepmother, and grandmother. Sherry departed peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 76, having bravely faced a battle with breast cancer. Born on January 20, 1950, in the vibrant city of Seattle, Washington, Sherry was the beloved daughter of Albert and Ruth Vennes, who preceded her in death, along with her dear brother, Chuck Snow. Sherry's journey through life was marked by warmth, compassion, and an unwavering positive outlook that touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a beacon of encouragement, always inspiring her friends and family to strive for success, no matter how daunting the challenges may have seemed. In 1997, Sherry married the love of her life, Jonnie Porras, in a heartfelt ceremony at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they nurtured a loving and supportive home, where laughter and love were ever-present. Jonnie, her devoted husband, survives her, carrying forward the legacy of their enduring love. Sherry is also survived by her brother, Terry Hansen; her niece, Debbie Snow; her stepdaughter, Tracy Hirschberg; her stepson, Ryan Porras; and two treasured grandchildren, who brought immense joy and fulfillment to her later years. Her family was the center of her universe, and she held each member close to her heart. A woman of exceptional talent and dedication, Sherry earned her cosmetologist license and went on to establish a successful career running her own hair salon for over four decades. Her skillful hands and keen eye for beauty transformed not only appearances but also the self-esteem of her many loyal clients. Her salon was more than a place for haircuts and styling; it was a sanctuary where people gathered to share stories, laughter, and the warmth of Sherry's compassionate spirit. Sherry's legacy is defined by her kindness, her unwavering optimism, and her ability to see the beauty in everyone and everything. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire us all to live life with courage, kindness, and grace. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sherry's life in a service that will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Sherry's memory to breast cancer research, in hopes of advancing the fight against the disease she faced with such dignity and strength. Rest in peace, dear Sherry. Your light will forever guide us, and your love will live on in our hearts.
