In Loving Memory

Sherrie Lynn Hundemer
August 29, 1955 — May 23, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sherrie Lynn Hundemer, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully at her home on May 23, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on August 29, 1955, in Dayton, Kentucky, Sherrie's life was a radiant tapestry of love, laughter, and generosity that touched everyone she met.
Sherrie was the cherished daughter of the late Orville and Adrienne Hundemer (nee McCain). She joins in eternal rest her dear parents, her sister Deborah, and her beloved daughter Jessica, who predeceased her. Sherrie's legacy is carried on by her devoted daughters, Michele and Staci, and her loving siblings Orville, Mike, Joe, Paul, Sandy, Pam, and Nancy. She was the proud grandmother of eight: Brianna, Maelynn, Danny, Mason, Carson, Brooklynn, Cale, and Trinity, and a great-grandmother to Bristol, Gannon, Tatum, Brielle, Lucy, and Navy. Her home was also shared with her cherished pets, her cat Gracie, and her two dogs, Loki and Freya.
Sherrie attended St. Bernard School for her early education and later Dayton High School. Her talents were boundless, and her spirit was infectious. A gifted artist, Sherrie delighted in creating beautiful things through ceramics, embroidery, sewing, and stained glass. Her culinary skills were legendary, and she found great joy in gathering her family for meals filled with warmth and laughter.
Sherrie was a vibrant presence, whether she was playing horseshoes, bowling, or enjoying a game of softball. She had an innate ability to make those around her feel at ease with her humor and candid nature. Her favorite television shows, including "Everybody Loves Raymond," "Andy Griffith," "Reba," "Gilmore Girls," and "90 Day Fiance," provided her with much joy and laughter.
Though she was known for her wit and honesty, it was Sherrie's heart that truly defined her. She was the most generous soul, always ready to give her last dollar or the shirt off her back to someone in need. Her love language was giving, and she was a steadfast supporter of her community, donating to fill Christmas stockings for local children and buying throw blankets for neighborhood kids every holiday season.
Sherrie's life will be celebrated on June 5, 2026, at 5:00 PM at the VFW located at 828 6th Avenue, Dayton, KY 41074. We invite all who knew and loved Sherrie to join us in honoring her extraordinary life and the indelible impact she had on everyone she met.
In the words of those who knew her best, Sherrie was a "hoot," a beacon of joy and love, and a person who truly embodied the spirit of giving. Her memory will forever be a blessing to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
