It is with a mixture of profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Sherri Suzanne Herald, who departed this world peacefully on May 13, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. Born on July 3, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Sherri's life was a testament to unwavering love, kindness, and selflessness. Sherri was the cherished daughter of Jack Sumner and Lanelle Marsh, and stepdaughter to Don Marsh, all of whom predeceased her, along with her beloved siblings, Mike, Mickey and Mary. Pat. Her great-grandson, Tobias Williams, also preceded her in death. Despite these losses, Sherri's spirit remained resilient, always finding solace and joy in the family she built and nurtured. On May 28, 1977, Sherri married the love of her life, Darrell Herald. Together, they created a home overflowing with affection and warmth, celebrating 49 beautiful years of marriage. Their journey together was marked by the raising of their three daughters, Salina (Jaime) Hernandez, Amanda, and Kathy (Jason) Sterrett, who were the light of Sherri's life. Her legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Alex, Chloe, Selena, Sierra, Bella, Aaiden, and Makayla, and her great-grandson, Mari. Sherri also leaves behind her brother, Steve Sumner, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who were touched by her generous spirit. A graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, Sherri furthered her education at cosmetology school, but her true calling was caring for others. Whether she was babysitting in her home, tending to ailing family members and neighbors, or serving as a crossing guard, Sherri's kindness left an everlasting mark. Many children will fondly remember her gentle assistance as they crossed the street. Sherri loved for gardening and found joy in her favorite television shows, yet her heart was fullest when hosting gatherings. Be it festive holidays or impromptu chili suppers, Sherri's home was always open. Her selflessness was the hallmark of her character. Sherri's ability to smile through pain and prioritize the needs of others was a testament to her strength and compassion. She gave of herself freely, a living example of grace and kindness. A celebration of Sherri's remarkable life will be held on June 13, 2026, as family and friends gather to honor her memory and the immense love she shared with the world. Her family extends their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. In our hearts, Sherri's spirit lives on, her legacy a testament to a life dedicated to love, kindness, and selfless service. May she rest in eternal peace, forever remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
