It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sherri Fonner, a beloved daughter, sister, and mother, who left this world on March 24, 2026, at the age of 46. Born on December 7, 1979, in Decatur, Illinois, Sherri was the cherished daughter of Richard and Dorothy Fonner, whose memories she now joins alongside many aunts, uncles, and cousins who predeceased her. Sherri's life was a tapestry of kindness and love, woven with threads of compassion and selflessness. From a young age, she demonstrated a profound love for nature, finding solace and joy in the world around her. This passion was only matched by the love she held for her children, Ella and Richie, who remain in the family home, carrying forward the legacy of their mother's love and strength. A proud graduate of Central A&M High School, Sherri was known for her sweet and kind nature, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her generous spirit touched many lives, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a beacon of support for her siblings—three sisters and a brother—and was surrounded by a vast network of cousins who adored her. Though Sherri's journey was marked by her valiant battle with mental illness, she faced each day with courage and resilience. Her life reminds us of the importance of understanding and compassion, and how critical it is to support those who struggle with mental health challenges. In her memory, a private funeral ceremony will be held, honoring the intimate bond she shared with her loved ones. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the New Life Pregnancy Center, an organization close to Sherri's heart. Contributions can be directed to the memorial fund established in her name, "Sherri Fonner." Sherri's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. Her gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to her family will continue to inspire all who knew her. As we say goodbye, we hold her memory close, finding comfort in the legacy of warmth and generosity she leaves behind. May she find peace and rest, embraced by the love of her parents and the family who awaited her with open arms.
