Sherman Douglas

Sherman Douglas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, at Hillcrest Hospital. Born on December 13, 1946, in Pensacola, Florida, Sherman brought warmth, humor, and kindness to all who were fortunate to know him. Sherman was the cherished son of Fred and Eliza Douglas, and he shared a special bond with his twin brother, Herman, who predeceased him. His mother Eliza and father Fred have also passed on, leaving Sherman to carry forward their spirit and legacy. In 1972, Sherman married the love of his life, Willie Douglas, in Cleveland, Ohio. Together, they built a strong, loving family, nurturing their sons Sherman (Tracy) Tyus, Fred Douglas his grandchildren Taylor (Terence) Barbee, Da'Sean (Lauryn) Douglas, and Destiny Douglas. As a family man, Sherman instilled values of love, respect, and kindness, creating a home filled with laughter and warmth. His family was his pride and joy, and he was a devoted grandfather to three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, Angelia Douglas, who brought him immense happiness. Sherman's life was enriched by his involvement with Lee Heights Community Church, where he was a respected member and friend to many. He had a passion for cars and spent countless hours working on them, often sharing his mechanical wisdom with those around him. Sherman's sense of humor was legendary; he had an uncanny ability to light up a room with his infectious laugh and quick wit. He found great joy in spending time with his loved ones, whether it was gathering for family events or embarking on adventurous cruise trips. An enthusiast of the race tracks, Sherman had a special fondness for horses and cherished those moments of excitement and camaraderie. Sherman is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Willie, his sons and their families, including his great-granddaughter Angelia, and his brother Jerome Douglas. His legacy of generosity, humor, and love will forever be remembered by all who knew him. Sherman Douglas will always be remembered for his generous spirit, his love for family, and his unwavering kindness to others.
