It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sherl Brenda Copeland, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. Sherl passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 65, surrounded by her cherished children, after a courageous battle with kidney failure. Her journey began on January 12, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida, where she was born to Jarold and Brenda Copeland. Sherl was a beacon of kindness and warmth, known for her gentle spirit and unwavering faith. Her life was a testament to generosity and love, values instilled in her from a young age by her supportive parents, Jarold and Brenda. She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Williams, and her beloved sister, Ernestine Williams, whom she held close in her heart throughout her life. Sherl's story is one of a remarkable journey filled with love and dedication. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Harold Copeland, a love story that began at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and community. Her devotion to her family was evident in every facet of her life, and she found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren. Education was a cornerstone of Sherl's life. After graduating from Mandarin High School, she pursued her passion for justice by earning a law degree from North Carolina University. Her commitment to empowering others was further exemplified through her involvement with the Stand Up for Women Club in 1985, where she earned a certification in leadership, championing the cause of women suffering from mental illness. Sherl's life was enriched by her love for her community. Sundays were her favorite days, as she spent them at church, cooking for everyone after service. Her home was a haven of warmth and hospitality, where family and friends gathered to enjoy her culinary creations. Her heart's desire was always to serve others, and she did so with grace and humility. In honoring Sherl's memory, the family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the funeral home staff, friends, and all who have offered their support during this difficult time. A private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sherl's memory to the Women's Leadership Program, a cause she held dear.
