October 1, 1985 – February 23, 2026
With profound sadness and deep respect, we honor the life of Shemika Sharron Sharp, who transitioned from this world on February 23, 2026, at the age of 40. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 1, 1985, Shemika was a beacon of strength, love, and inspiration to all who knew her.
Shemika was the beloved daughter of Deborah Madison and Russell Sharp, who survive her along with her siblings Shantina Beacham, Shanita Sharp, Russell Sharp, Rozzell Sharp, Minnetta Sharp, Ramello Sharp, Arthur Smith, and Artrese Smith. Above all, Shemika was a devoted and proud mother to her cherished children: Iyanna, Carlos, Indiya, Carter, and Imanni. Her children were the lights of her life, and her greatest joy was found in nurturing them, cooking for her family, and teaching profound life lessons through everyday moments. She was determined to be not just a mother, but a powerful example of love and resilience.
Shemika's life was marked by her unwavering commitment to education and excellence. A 2007 graduate of Mackenzie, she continued her journey at Jackson College, where she became a pillar in her community as a mentor for the Sisters of Strength. Her time there laid the foundation for the remarkable woman she became, one who thrived on involvement and growth, always striving to be her best self.
Her professional life was as vibrant as her personal one. After nurturing a loving home for 15 years, Shemika embarked on a successful entrepreneurial journey, demonstrating the same passion and dedication that defined every aspect of her life. Her work was a testament to her belief in the power of showing up fully and authentically.
Shemika's personal motto, “Queen up, crown on,” was more than just a saying; it was a reflection of her life’s philosophy. It embodied her belief in adjusting your crown, standing tall, and moving forward with grace and dignity, regardless of life's challenges. She lived this truth, embodying a spirit of resilience and royalty that inspired everyone around her.
A woman of elegance, humor, and radiant spirit, Shemika touched the lives of all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of love, strength, and wisdom will continue to echo through the lives she touched. She carried herself with grace and confidence, always present and attentive to those she loved. Whether providing encouragement, offering guidance, or sharing in laughter, Shemika was a constant source of strength and joy.
Shemika’s life will be celebrated at a service on March 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM, held at O.H. Pete Funeral Home, located at 17600 Plymouth Rd, Detroit, MI 48227. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the extraordinary life she led.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us during this time, particularly the compassionate staff at the rehabilitation center and the nurses who provided care and comfort, allowing us to be with Shemika in her final moments.
In remembering Shemika Sharron Sharp, we are reminded to “Queen up. Crown on.” She taught us to live fully, love deeply, and always stand tall. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, forever cherished in our hearts.
