It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shelly Renay McClain, a cherished daughter, niece, cousin, and friend, who departed this life on July 29, 2026. Shelly was born on September 11, 1973, and in her 52 years, she brought immense joy and love to all who knew her. Shelly was the beloved daughter of Kathy McClain (Buster) and the late Russell W. McClain. She is remembered fondly by her mother, Kathy McClain (Buster), and her aunts and uncle, Mary Anderson (Joe) and Connie Buster. Her great aunt, Leona Craig. Along with numerous cousins: Gena Buster (Steve), Carla Shaw (Mike), Tamatha Sanchez (Ray), Dana (Gerald), Todd Anderson (Stacy), Naomi Tucker, Shalico Goodman, Todd Lay, and Roger Lay. Her special nephew and niece , Zane Wilson and Riley Pennington, along with her special caregivers in Indiana and the many friends she made throughout her life. Shelly was predeceased by her father, Russell W. McClain, her maternal grandparents, Eva Dean and Leslie Buster, her paternal grandparents, Virgina and Leonard McClain, her uncle Leslie Paul Buster,and her aunts Rosie Buster and Diane Goodman (Buster). Her life was rich with the presence of her friends and family and the love she shared with them. Her passions were simple yet meaningful; she delighted in the collection of pens, a hobby that showcased her appreciation for the small, beautiful things in life. Her collection was a reflection of her love for creativity and her attention to detail. She will be dearly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her and will be remembered for her gentle spirit and unwavering love. The family will receive visitation on Friday, August 7, 2026, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, 2026, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Shelly McClain Memorial Fund, c/o Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home. Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. May Shelly Renay McClain rest in peace, forever in our hearts and thoughts.
