With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shelly Nicole Mellott, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on June 24, 2026, just days before her 53rd birthday. Shelly's life began on June 29, 1973, in the beautiful town of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, where she was born to the late Henry Clay McBee and Karen Jo Young.
Shelly was the beloved wife of Gary Wayne Mellott Jr., with whom she shared 24 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Together, they built a family centered on love, kindness, and laughter. Shelly is survived by her devoted husband, her cherished children: Franklin Herbert Hess III, Devon Taylor Mellott, and Jasmine Nicole Mellott, and her adored grandchildren: Reilly McDurfee, Halia McDurfee, Franklin Mellott IV, Scarlet Henry, and Wyatt Hess. Her sisters, Stacy Schultz and Lisa Jo, also survive her, holding dear the memories of their shared childhood and sisterly bond.
Shelly's life was a testament to the power of love and family. Her smile could light up any room and was often the guiding warmth that brought comfort and joy to those around her. She was known as the glue that held her family together, always ensuring that family gatherings were filled with warmth and laughter. Her role as an amazing mother and grandmother was one she cherished deeply, as she spent her happiest moments surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
A loyal Cowboys fan, Shelly enjoyed cheering on her favorite team and sharing that passion with her family. Her hobbies and interests were rooted in the simple pleasures of life: the joy of spending time with family and the special bonds she shared with her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
A celebration of Shelly's life will be held on June 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Moose Lodge #1483 in Berkeley Springs, located at 593 N Washington St, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411. Family, friends, and all those touched by Shelly's kindness and warmth are invited to gather and honor the extraordinary life she led.
