Shelley Jean Gregory, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at Agility Health and Rehabilitation, after a courageous battle with COPD and CHF. Born on July 12, 1951, in Chula Vista, California, Shelley was a beacon of warmth and love, deeply touching the lives of those around her.
Shelley was the cherished daughter of Melvin and Madeline Lytle, who instilled in her the values of kindness and resilience that she carried throughout her life. She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Larry McCree, and her four sisters, Randa Pohl, Stephanie Hoffer, Joanne Weaver, and Marilyn Hardy. Her legacy lives on through her devoted daughters, Amy Gregory and Patricia Gregory, and her treasured grandson, Nathan Gregory.
Shelley found great joy in the simplicity and beauty of family life. She married Franklin Charles Gregory on December 2, 1982, in Thurston County. Together, they shared 30 years of marriage, raising their daughters in a home filled with laughter and love. Shelley often said that being a wife, mother, and homemaker brought her the greatest happiness and fulfillment.
A proud graduate of Santana High School in 1969, Shelley embarked on a life of service and care. She served her country with distinction as a Signal Security Specialist for U.S. Army Intelligence from 1980 to 1982. Her career path reflected her nurturing spirit, working as an airline stewardess for PSA Airlines, a Family Child Care provider, a nursing assistant, and later as a phone operator at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Shelley was known for her warmth and loving nature, effortlessly making everyone feel accepted and valued. Her natural grace and confidence illuminated any room she entered, and her laughter was infectious. Though she thrived in social settings, Shelley’s true contentment was found at home, tending to her family with devotion and care.
In honor of Shelley’s life and the profound impact she made, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Shelley.
