Shelley Denise Fitchie, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world on April 2, 2026, in the serene surroundings of Pillars at Biloxi. Born on August 17, 1968, in the charming town of Pascagoula, Mississippi, Shelley graced the lives of those around her for 57 beautiful years.
Shelley was the cherished daughter of Patsy Ready Rowell and Jimmy Wayne Holcomb. She was a beacon of warmth and kindness, known for her infectious smile and a heart that embraced everyone she met. Her life's journey was decorated with laughter and love, punctuated by her deep affection for puzzles, card games, and painting. A true aficionado of the cinematic arts, Shelley found joy and comfort in the world of movies, often sharing this passion with family and friends.
Shelley’s educational journey led her to St. Martin High School, where she graduated in 1986, marking the beginning of a life full of meaningful connections and cherished memories. Her career began in the hospitality industry, where she spent several years working as a waitress. In 2018, she transitioned to a devoted housewife, bringing her nurturing spirit and gentle warmth to her home and loved ones.
On September 24, 2011, Shelley married the love of her life, Vernon Fitchie. Together, they shared 14 years of unwavering companionship, building a life filled with love and mutual respect. Shelley's family was her greatest treasure, and she leaves behind a legacy of love with her husband Vernon, her parents Patsy and Jimmy, her brother Thomas Rowell, and her sisters Angela Holcomb, Amber Lopez, and Colynda Luna. She is also survived by her devoted uncle, Kevin Holcomb, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Though she leaves a void that can never truly be filled, Shelley is now reunited with those who predeceased her, including her grandparents Martha Holcomb Frazier, James Holcomb, Mytrle Jo Ready, and Pete Ready, her half-sister Sona Roberts, her dear aunt Bonnie Seal, and her beloved uncle Jeffrey Harvey, Sr.
A celebration of Shelley’s life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Calvary Baptist Church, located at 3139 Oak Grove Rd, Hattiesburg, MS 39402. The family invites those who knew and loved Shelley to join in honoring her memory and sharing in the legacy of love she leaves behind.
