It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Shelia Warren Cagle, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Shelia departed this world unexpectedly but peacefully on April 15, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on November 4, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, Shelia's life was a testament to love, kindness, and selfless dedication to her family and community.
Shelia was the cherished daughter of the late Lena Sampson and Benard Pitts, and she was lovingly raised by her stepfather, James Ervin. Her upbringing in St. Louis was filled with warmth and affection, shaping her into the compassionate and generous soul that touched the lives of so many.
A proud graduate of Hughes Quinn Rock High School, Shelia pursued her passion for caring for others by becoming a certified nursing assistant. Her career was not just a job, but a vocation through which she provided comfort and support to those in need.
Shelia's greatest joy came from her family. She was the devoted wife of Louis Cagle, and together they created a life rich with love and laughter. Shelia was a nurturing mother to her daughters, Shylitta Richardson, Lashell Marin, and Shelia Cagle, who were her pride and joy. Her legacy of love continues through her nine treasured grandchildren: Ashley Nickerson, Booker T. Grisby, Jane Grisby, Kodi Willis, Kemondrea Garner, Antwoine Williams, Kyle Moore, Kemar, and Kendall Martin. Additionally, Shelia's heart expanded to embrace her five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense happiness.
Shelia was a beloved sister to Lena Sampson Halfacre, Carnelions Junior Warren, Brenda Warren, David Warren, Charles Vaughn, and Tyrous Vaughn. Her familial bonds were strong, and she cherished the time spent in the company of her siblings, sharing stories and laughter.
Family was the cornerstone of Shelia's life, and she found immense joy in gathering her loved ones together. Her home was always open, her table always welcoming. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and loved, a testament to her generous spirit and enduring warmth.
As we reflect on Shelia's life, we are reminded of the profound impact she had on her family and community. Her life was so fulfulling with so many twist and turns, that trying to summarize everything she experienced and embodied may not do her remarkable life enough justice. But in her words, ''Wop, Wop''.
